Maurice Graham, then President of the St. Louis Bar Foundation, was featured on this cover because of his philanthropic leadership motivating other lawyers to throw their support behind this charitable organization.
Michael Wolff, former Missouri Supreme Court Chief Justice, returned to SLU Law to teach in 2011 and I was there to re-trace his career from a legal services attorney to a law school professor, then to the Missouri Supreme Court and back again as a law school professor. Eventually he would be named Dean of the Law School before retiring in 2016.

Former Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, Hon. Mary Rhodes Russell, was a real trooper when this image was shot. The Court was undergoing a rehabilitation project, which meant there was no air conditioning on the day we shot. Thanks to her patience, some portable fans, and quick lighting set up, we were able to get the cover we wanted.
The late Frankie Muse Freeman, the first woman to be appointed to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (by President Johnson), dedicated her legal career to advancing civil and human rights in St. Louis and throughout the nation. I had the privilege to interview and photograph her many times, and to get to know her well. Through appointments to boards, commissions, and other organizations, as well as her private law practice, she sought the promise of justice and equality in society.
The investiture of Hon. Audrey Fleissig to the Federal Bench was held in the en banc courtroom of the Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse. Looking on is U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, who nominated her.

The late Honorable Richard B. Teitelman, shown here in his office in the St. Louis Municipal Courts building where he worked when not serving on the Missouri Supreme Court in Jefferson City. Judge Teitelman was gregarious, inquisitive, fair, and always concerned about those around him. He loved dining out and wrote regular restaurant reviews in this magazine for other attorneys. We lost Judge Teitelman in November 2016.
