27th birthday remembrance and action for Isaiah Hammett...

Warning: Some of the images in this gallery reflect post-mortem views of the victim of a “no-knock” raid by the police and may not be appropriate for viewing my minors or some adults.

On September 20, 2023, what would have been Isaiah Hammett’s 27th birthday, his family and local activists gathered in front of the Carnahan Court House in downtown St. Louis to remember him and the criminal events that took his life during a “no-knock” raid by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Denied a full investigation and any prosecution of wrong doing by the police, the family has now filed a civil suit so some justice may be obtained in the wrongful death of their son.

What made this remembrance action different was the presence of post-mortem photographs held by activists showing the extent of the multiple gunfire wounds Isaiah suffered at the hands of the police, along with visual crime scene evidence that refutes police accounts of what happened the night Isaiah was killed. Justice if often slow and difficult to attain, but the family has vowed to continue the fight for the truth and resolve to end Fatal State Violence (FSV).

Attending this gathering were Isaiah’s parents, siblings, friends, parents of other FSV victims, and local civil rights activists.
